Duration Skin Cancer Check & Lesion removal Estimated Cost: Upfront Fee $234.9 Rebate $84.9 Out of Pocket ~$120 - $150 Make an appointment < Back About this Service Skin Cancer Check at Brunswick Doctors Comprehensive Skin Cancer Screening Are you looking for a skin cancer check in Melbourne? Brunswick Doctors is equipped to perform a variety of skin procedures and comprehensive skin checks. Why Have a Skin Cancer Check? Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in Australia. It's estimated that 2 in 3 Australians will develop some form of skin cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is key to successful treatment, and a regular skin cancer check can save your life. Types of Skin Cancer To be brief, there are three main types of skin cancer: Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are both classed as non-melanoma cancers. These skin cancers are more common in men. Melanoma skin cancer is the third most common cancer in women, fourth in men, and the most common cancer in young people. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. Should I have a skin cancer check? While most of these cancers will be of slow-growing variety (e.g. basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma), there will be a significant number of people diagnosed with the most deadly form of skin cancer – melanoma . If untreated, Melanoma can progress to your lungs, brain, heart and bones. If you discover them in their early stages, skin cancer is highly treatable and a biopsy may be all that is required. However, treatment for skin cancer becomes much more difficult if given time to grow.*2 What can I do to reduce my risk of getting skin cancer? Avoid sunburn. The sun is awesome; we need vitamin D to maintain our body’s systemic health, however, we need to be smart. Slip, slop, slap; slide on your sunnies, and seek shade if you find yourself longer than a few short minutes in the sun. If you can avoid sun damage, you can prevent 95% of melanomas from forming on your skin. What is the single most important thing I can do? Get a regular skin cancer check! Melanoma looks like a mole, though unlike a mole, melanoma will usually grow larger and more irregular in shape and colour . Checking your skin for Melanoma is peace of mind, and this is priceless. What Is Involved in a Skin Cancer Check? Medical History: Your doctor will take your medical history to assess your risk of skin cancer. Inform them of any specific moles or lesions you are concerned about. Full-Body Skin Check: The doctor will perform a thorough skin check using a dermoscope, a special magnifying tool. You will be asked to undress to your underwear (privacy screens and gowns are available). Specific Concerns: If you have concerns about moles in specific areas like the genital or breast area, please let your doctor know. Discussion: After the examination, your doctor will discuss their findings, potential treatments, and follow-up steps. Prevention Advice: You will receive advice on skin cancer prevention measures to help reduce your risk. What Is the Fee for a Skin Check? Upfront fee: $226.95 - $238.80 Medicare Rebate: $76.95 - $88.80 Out of Pocket: $150 Prices are subject to change depending on the duration and nature of the appointment, but we try to keep the out-of-pocket fee consistent. If I have suspicious moles, how much would it cost to have a skin biopsy in Melbourne? The cost for a skin biopsy varies depending on the size, complexity, and location of the spot. Typically, you can expect to pay between $150 and $250 out of pocket after the Medicare rebate for a single biopsy. Where can I get a Skin Cancer Check in Melbourne? To obtain a prescription in Melbourne, simply schedule an appointment with one of our experienced general practitioners (GPs). During your appointment, your GP will assess your health condition and determine whether a prescription is necessary. If medication is required, your healthcare provider will write a prescription and provide you with the appropriate dosage instructions. Once you have a prescription, you can take it to any pharmacy in Melbourne to have it filled. Remember to follow the dosage instructions provided by your GP and pharmacist, and complete the full course of medication as prescribed, even if you start feeling better. Repeat Prescriptions Managing repeat prescriptions and tests is crucial for maintaining your health. If you have an ongoing health condition and have been prescribed medication, it's essential to ensure you have an adequate supply of your prescribed medication. We recommend scheduling an appointment with our GP at least 1-2 weeks before your medication runs out to ensure you have enough time to fill your prescriptions. Your health and wellbeing is important to us, that's why we require patients to schedule an appointment with their GP for a repeat prescription. Our GP will assess your health condition and determine if any adjustments need to be made to your medication and ensure that the medication is still effective and safe for you. Pathology Tests Getting pathology tests done in Melbourne is a straightforward process that can be completed in just a few simple steps. Whether you need a pathology test for a routine health check or to diagnose a specific condition, the following steps will help guide you through the process: 1. Consult your doctor: The first step in getting a pathology test in Melbourne is to consult with a GP doctor. Your doctor will assess your health condition and determine whether any pathology tests are necessary. 2. Choose a pathology lab and perform the test: Once your doctor has recommended a pathology test, you can choose a pathology lab to get the test done. Sometimes our doctor may ask you to leave the sample with us, in which case the test sample will be sent to Dorevitch Pathology. Most pathology tests, such as blood and urine tests, do not require an appointment. However, we do recommend checking with the pathology provider before attending the lab. 3. Receive your results: Once your test results are ready, they will be sent to our doctor. Our friendly receptionist will get in touch with you on behalf of our doctors within 1-2 weeks and inform you of any necessary follow-up actions, and whether a follow-up appointment is required. In most cases, if the results are all clear, a follow-up appointment won't be necessary. However, if there are any concerns or abnormal results, a follow-up appointment will be required to discuss the results and any necessary treatment or management options. Potential Fees for Pathology Tests Please note that some pathology tests may incur fees and our clinic has no control over the fees charged by other organisations. We recommend that you check with your chosen pathology provider before accessing their services. They will be able to advise you on whether the fees may be covered by Medicare or private health insurance and if any rebates are available. It's important to be aware of any potential costs before undergoing any tests, to avoid unexpected bills. Make an appointment with All Doctors Book Now

- Yellow Fever Vaccines | Brunswick Doctors
15 Mins Yellow Fever Vaccines Estimated Cost: Upfront Fee --- Rebate --- Out of Pocket $260 Make an appointment < Back About this Service Where to get yellow fever vaccines in Melbourne? Looking for a GP clinic in Melbourne that provides Yellow Fever vaccinations? Brunswick Doctors is an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, conveniently located on Albion Street. Whether you live locally in Brunswick or Northcote, or are visiting from nearby Melbourne suburbs, our clinic makes it easy to get your Yellow Fever vaccine, often on the same day! *Same-day vaccination is subject to individual health circumstances, vaccine stock, and appointment availability. What is Yellow Fever? Yellow fever is a viral infection transmitted by infected mosquitoes. It can range from mild symptoms (fever, muscle pain, headache, nausea) to severe disease including liver failure, bleeding and jaundice. There is no specific antiviral treatment, so prevention through vaccination and mosquito bite protection is key. Why do I need a Yellow fever vaccine? After receiving your vaccine, you’ll be issued an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) or ‘Yellow Card’. This official document serves as evidence of your vaccination and must be carried with you when travelling to or through countries where proof of Yellow Fever immunisation is required. Even for countries that don’t require it, vaccination is strongly recommended if you are travelling to or through an area where yellow fever transmission occurs, Because of global travel, mosquito vectors and travel-transit risk, vaccination remains the safest way to protect yourself and avoid entry denial or quarantine. Your Yellow Fever Checklist Schedule your appointment at least 10 days before departure, so the vaccine has time to take effect Bring your passport/travel itinerary so we can document the correct destination(s) if needed. After vaccination you will receive the ICVP (yellow card) which you must keep and carry. Continue to protect yourself from mosquito bites – vaccination is one part of protection, not the only measure. If you are pregnant, immunocompromised or have a history of severe allergy to vaccines, please be sure to let our doctors know, as you may not be able to get the vaccine. Keep in mind that entry requirements can change at short notice – check with your airline, destination country embassy/consulate and official travel health sources shortly before you leave. How much does Yellow Fever Vaccines cost in Melbourne? To get a yellow fever vaccine, please make an appointment with Dr Ali Sheaar or Dr Lakmali Jinadasa . Upfront Cost: $184.90 Medicare Rebates: $84.9 Out of Pocket Fee: $100 Cost for the Yellow Fever Vaccine: $160 Countries that Require Proof of Vaccination Some countries require all travellers to present a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate , no matter where they are arriving from. If you are travelling to any of the following destinations, you must be vaccinated before entering: Angola Burundi Central African Republic Democratic Republic of the Congo French Guiana Gabon Ghana Liberia Mali Rwanda Sierra Leone South Sudan Uganda Countries That Require Proof When Travelling From or Through a Risk Area Other countries are not Yellow Fever risk areas themselves but still require travellers to show a valid vaccination certificate if they have recently been in, or transited through , a country where Yellow Fever occurs — even for a short layover. Examples include: India China Australia Indonesia Thailand United Arab Emirates (including Dubai) Saudi Arabia Malaysia Panama Paraguay Trinidad & Tobago If your journey involves multiple flights or stopovers — particularly through Africa or South America — make sure to check the vaccination requirements for every country along your route. Even a brief airport transit can trigger the certificate rule. Countries With Ongoing Yellow Fever Risk (Vaccination Recommended) Certain destinations have active Yellow Fever transmission but may not require proof of vaccination for entry. However, getting vaccinated is highly recommended for your own protection , especially if you’ll be spending time outdoors or in rural areas. These include: Brazil Kenya Peru Ethiopia Bolivia Niger Chad Requirements change constantly, we strongly recommend travellers check the specific entry criteria for their destination and any transit countries well in advance of travel. - IUD | Brunswick Doctors
Duration IUD Estimated Cost: Upfront Fee See below Rebate See below Out of Pocket See below Make an appointment < Back About this Service IUD Insertion and Removal at Brunswick Doctors Mirena | Kyleena | Copper IUD What is an IUD? An IUD (Intrauterine Device) is a highly effective and long-lasting birth control option. Depending on the type, an IUD can last up to 5 years after insertion. If you decide to get pregnant, an IUD can be removed at any time by a healthcare professional, and fertility typically returns quickly. While IUDs offer many benefits, it's important to discuss the potential risks and side effects with your doctor to determine if this method is suitable for you. If you're considering an IUD for contraception, please book an appointment with one of our doctors. IUD Insertion Consultation, Procedure & Cost 1st Appointment: Consultation & STI Screening Your first consultation will involve a discussion about your overall health and the pros and cons of using an IUD. An STI screening and pregnancy test may be arranged to ensure the IUD is safe and appropriate for you. During the appointment, our doctors will explain the procedure in detail and address any questions or concerns you may have. If everything is clear, you will receive a prescription to purchase an IUD from a nearby pharmacy. Our doctors will also help determine which IUD may be the most suitable in your case. Below are the most common IUDs and their differences: Mirena IUD (Hormonal): The Mirena IUD releases the hormone levonorgestrel (LNG) gradually into your body each day. It is effective for up to 7 years and should be replaced at the end of this period. Kyleena IUD (Hormonal): The Kyleena IUD also releases low doses of LNG into your body, with a duration of 5 years. It offers a lower hormone option compared to birth control pills. Copper IUD (Non-hormonal): The copper IUD induces an inflammatory reaction within your uterus, this prevents sperm from fertilizing an egg and may also prevent an egg from attaching to your uterus. It is effective immediately after insertion and can be used as emergency contraception if inserted within 5 days of unprotected sex. 2nd Appointment: Insertion Procedure Plan to be at the clinic for about 1 hour (up to 2 hours), with the actual insertion procedure taking around 30 - 45 minutes. The doctor will insert the IUD through your cervix into your uterus. Depending on the IUD, it will take up to 7 days to start working to prevent pregnancy. IUD Insertion Fee Upfront Cost: $429.45* Medicare Rebates: $179.45* Out of Pocket Fee: $250 (includes $60 equipment fee) Please note that this price does not include the cost of the IUD and is subject to change. This measurement, combined with a blood test, helps assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome. 18-22 Weeks: Ultrasound - Morphology Scan The morphology scan is a detailed ultrasound that examines your baby's anatomy, checking for any physical abnormalities. It also assesses the development of your baby's organs and measures growth.' 24-28 Weeks: Blood Test - Gestational Diabetes Screening The gestational diabetes screening test checks for high blood sugar levels that can develop during pregnancy.
