Victor Swee Chin Tan

Mr Swee Chin Tan is a general and laparoscopic surgeon who consults from and operates in numerous hospitals including Northern Private Hospital and John Fawkner Private. He obtained his medical degree in Melbourne and after completing his internship and a couple of years of residency, he undertook and successfully obtained a Masters of Surgical Science Degree from University of Adelaide. He subsequently spent a few years in Darwin as a surgical registrar where he gained a broad exposure to general surgery in a rural setting. He has finished his surgical training with rotations through Austin and Northern Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Swee Chin performs a variety of general surgical operations from hemorrhoidectomy, gallbladder surgery to appendicectomies and right hemicolectomies. He also has a keen interest in hernia surgery which he can offer as an open or laparoscopic procedure. In addition, he performs gastroscopies and colonoscopies.

As a general surgeon, Swee Chin understands the stress that most patients face when undergoing surgery. He will ensure that all queries are answered and operations are explained with minimal medical jargon, all this done in a friendly and professional manner. He speaks fluent mandarin and is very happy to see all types of patients – private, TAC, workcover and uninsured patients.
